You can add your analytics id and give you data about your bookings inside your own Google Analytics.

First step is to find your analytics id. It has the format ‘UA-XXXXXX-X‘.

Log into your analytics account at http://analytics.google.com and find the number in the home area, beside your site on the list.

You can also see who to find it here.

Step 4.1 Configure Universal Analytics (GA3)

Update Referral Exclusion List

In Google Analytics, navigate to the Admin Settings (gear icon in the bottom left) and then under your Property Settings click “Tracking Info” and “Referral Exclusion List”

You should already see your website domain there. You want to also add ‘dinnerbooking.com’ as a referral exclusion.

Enable Filter to Show Full URL

Because you’re tracking activity across two websites you’ll probably want to see the domains of the websites in your reporting. To do this we recommend implementing the following filter.

In Google Analytics, navigate to the Admin Settings (gear icon in the bottom left) and then under your View Settings click “Filters” and “Add Filter”

Enter the following details:

  • Filter Name: Show Full URL
  • Filter Type: Custom
    • Radio Buttons: Advanced
  • Field A Dropdown: Hostname
    • Extract A: (.*)
  • Field B Dropdown: Request URI
    • Extract A: (.*)
  • Output To Dropdown: Request URI
    • Constructor: $A1$B1

Then, Click “Save”

Enable Enhanced Ecommerce

In Google Analytics, navigate to the Admin Settings (gear icon in the bottom left) and then under your View Settings click “Ecommerce Settings”.

NOTE: If you have more than one view, you’ll want to repeat this step for each one.

Toggle both “Enable Ecommerce” and “Enable Enhanced Ecommerce” reporting to “On”

Then, Click “Save”

Add Custom Dimensions & Metrics

In Google Analytics, navigate to the Admin Settings (gear icon in the bottom left) and then under your Property Settings click “Custom Definitions” and then “Custom Dimensions”

You’re going to add two custom dimensions IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

  1. Name: Booking Date
    Scope: Product
    – Active: Checked
  2. Name: Booking Day of Week
    Scope: Product
    Active: Checked

When you’re done, it should look like this:

Then, Click “Save”

Then, click on Custom Metrics

You’re going to add one custom metric

  1. Name: Booking Time
    Scope: Product
    Active: Checked

When you’re done, it should look like this:

Then, Click “Save”

Configure Goals for Bookings

In Google Analytics, navigate to the Admin Settings (gear icon in the bottom left) and then under your View Settings click “Goals”

We’re going to create four New Goals. Fill out the following details for each one.

  1. Goal for Restaurant Bookings
  • Goal Setup: Custom
  • Goal Description: Restaurant Booking
    • Type: Event
  • Goal Details (Copy-paste the following values so it is exact and ensure that there are no extra spaces)
    • Category – Equals to – Enhanced Ecommerce
    • Action – Equals to – Restaurant Booking
  • Toggle “Use the Event value as the Goal Value” to YES

You’re done! 🍷

You should now see traffic flowing to and between your website and DinnerBooking in your Acquisition and Behaviour Reports.

Under “Conversions” you should also start seeing data in your Goals Reports and Ecommerce reports.
